PAPADAKIS Nicholas Papadakis describes "growing up on the outskirts of Detroit somewhere between the Post-Industrial inner city decay and the sheltered American sensibilities of Cranbrook Design". He earned a BFA in painting from RISD, "where concentration was placed on experimenting with varied materials and disciplines: glassblowing, metalworking, furniture design, holography, film/video, printmaking, etc.". A light fluffy and wet statement: "we've reached the end, who really cares; beyond all hope there's no despair. crawling, cross the asphalt, drinking oil from the slicks - my head throbbing with the coarse reminder of all that makes me sick. so make yourself at home in the nightmare of the circus. destitute and thoughtless, slip into the stench of rot and disinfectant; rest your head. when life becomes a festival of body parts, and last-minute-measures fail, don't let your optimism get you down. as picket fences and puppy dogs strike obscene chords, something you're hoping for can't be found. what seemed like chance occurrence only yesterday is premeditated insanity today. we're headed for a lobotomy. a thousand deaths is what should be. a tragedy. a big fat fleshy thing that gives the same mouth-feel and textural firmness as full-fat meat. an atrophy. misanthropy. a trophy to sanity - posthumously. when belabored happiness leaves me bored and the catch-phrase remains the same, i can only hope you hurt as much as me. only now on the periphery of the world can i see it all as it's always been - a rape and pillage thing. we have arrived at the bottom line; we are the lowest common denominator. i am the enema for a post-biological world. pander to me."
